The Edge On Folk is broadcast every Saturday from 8am to noon, Pacific Time, on CiTR fm 101.9 in Vancouver, and live on www.citr.ca < wherever you are. The show has been hosted by Steve Edge, more or less every week since June 1985! It is now syndicated on CHIR fm on Saltspring Island one week later on Sundays at 10am, and Wednesdays at 5pm. Rise Up, and Groove!: Played some music from the latest issue of Songlines Magazine's Top of the World CD. This week's sad R.I.P. was to Sly Dunbar, drummer with the legendary reggae riddim section Sly & Robbie - some old favourite reggae tracks, and a few songs outside the genre which were produced by Sly and Robbie. A few new tracks by The Boss, Eric Bibb, The Fugitives, Medusa Quartet, Sophie Lukacs, and Daughters of Donbas. A bunch of local concert previews, and a brief glimpse of new albums by Della Mae, and Irish trad band Ye Vagabonds. Also some stunning Ukrainian folk with a modern pulse from Yagody - a fine band I saw in town on Thursday.
